Renault

Peugeot-Talbot took over all Chrysler UK and France operations in 1979, and from January 1980 the Commer, Dodge and Karrier names "officially" became Talbot. Renault had been created as recently as 1978, though the Berliet and Saviem pedigree went back much further. Peugeot had little interest in the truck making side of the business and this was quickly sold on to Renault in 1981. The Dodge name was still used for a while but gradually the Renault diamond established itself, and trucks were badged Dodge-Renault, and eventually in 1987, just Renault.

Renault G.170 and G.260 series trucks had been built at Dunstable since 1984 and in 1989 were joined by the all new Midliner S.120 series which was the successor to the long running Commando range. By 1992 Renault sold less than 2,000 British built trucks and closure was announced, the last vehicle rolling off the production line in March 1993.

Boscombe Road, Dunstable is retained by Renault as headquarters of its UK distribution of French-built Premium range tractors and Kerax 8x4 tippers.
