Join Fleet Data
The Road Transport Fleet Data Society was formed in 1980 as the Council Vehicle Society.
As the original name suggests, the object at the time was to present members with data on local authority vehicles, but our activities have since expanded and now include:
- Military vehicles
- Emergency Vehicles
- TV companies
- Health authorities
- Public utilities
- Government vehicles
- AA and RAC
- Supermarket vehicles
- Distribution companies
We also cover the former nationalised industries, such as British Rail, British Road Services, and their successor companies, now in the private sector.
We maintain an active policy of contacting fleet operators to seek help in the provision of official information to check our own records. So far over four hundred organisations have provided us with information.
Our first newsletter "Council Vehicle News" is still going strong, and contains information on new and recent vehicles for local authorities and public works contractors. "Public Utilities Bulletin" is our newsletter covering non-council fleets. Information in the newsletters is provided by member's observations, trade sources and official information. Other research is carried out at museums and archives. Members of the society receive both of these newsletters quarterly.
To become a member of The Road Transport Fleet Data Society simply complete the membership form below and send a UK cheque/postal order for the membership fee. Current membership fees are £12 per year for UK members and £15 for international members.
